If you live in a condominium, homeowners association, or housing cooperative, you know how important it is to have an effective governing board of directors. The CAI Board Leader Certificate is designed to provide a foundation for effective community association board leadership. Whether you are an experienced board member or just thinking about getting involved, this certificate will help you become a more informed and effective leader.
To Earn the CAI Board Leader Certificate:
- Complete the CAI Board Leader Certificate Course (also known as the Board Leader Development Workshop). This course is offered in two formats: classroom instruction through CAI chapters, or an online, self-study course.
Acknowledge that you have read and understand three key documents:
- Model Code of Ethics for Community Association Board Members
- Community Association Governance Guidelines
- Rights and Responsibilities for Better Communities
Recognition:
Community leaders who complete the CAI Board Leader Certificate will receive a certificate of completion and recognition on the CAI website.
Please read all information below carefully prior to registering.
Please note, the typical cost to take this program is usually $99 for members, however the NJ chapter of CAI subsidizes this cost to chapter members to make it NO CHARGE to participate, as we feel that proper board training is key to the industry. With that, the chapter will only subsidize this cost once per member. Any member who has already completed this course is not eligible to participate at the subsidized rate (FREE).
If you have already completed the program during a previous session and would like to "sit in" for a refresher, please contact jaclyn@cainj.org. Please note that space is limited for refresher students and the fee is $25. Refresher students will not be provided with materials and are encouraged to bring the packet they received during their initial session.
You must be in attendance both days, attendance will be monitored. If you are unable to commit to all sessions, please do not register for this round of programming. As attendance is limited, any registrants who are not present during all programming will be charged a $25 fee, as CAI-NJ subsidizing the program to be free for NJ chapter members. Cancellation for this program is one week in advance of the first day of programming, swaps can be made at any time.
